Monsoon revival causes flood in many states

New Delhi, Jul 25: While Orissa is going through drought problem, several states like Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Gujrat had come under flood effected regions after the monsoon revival.

According to CNN-IBN, the Malan River, which had changed its course, had flooded several low lying areas in Uttar Pradesh.

The National Highway 119 was submerged, bringing traffic to a halt on the road that connects Bijnor, a district in UP, to Delhi.

As the channel showed, in West Bengal's North Dinajpur district floodwater had inundated hundreds of homes and acres of agricultural land.

A man was stuck on a rock after the gates of a nearby dam were opened in Andhra Pradesh's Mahboob Nagar.

According the channel report, schools and colleges had been closed in Chiplun due to flooding in Maharashtra. At least two people were missing after being washed away in the flood waters.

Incessant rains had triggered fears in flooding in Veraval in Gujarat as well.
