Six militants surrender in Imphal
Imphal, July 24 (ANI): Six hardcore militants belonging to three banned militant outfits, surrendered before the top brass of the state police here on Friday.
The ultras gave up their arms and ammunition in the presence of Joykumar Singh, Director General of Police (DGP), Manipur and other senior officers of paramilitary forces.
According to sources, the surrendered militants include two cadres of KYKL, viz Ratan alias Prem and Khaidem Yalma Singh alias Suraj, three cadres of PULF(Azad), Md Apik alias Khan, Md Riyajuddin, Bogamayum Manarwak Ali and one cadre of KDF (U), Nogthonbam Nikan alias Nanao.
"The series of such surrender ceremonies in the last four or five months clearly indicate that militants and their cadres want to come back and lead a normal life," said Joykumar Singh.
He also appealed to all the militants and their cadres to give up arms and sought their help in building a better and peaceful Manipur.
India's northeastern region is home to over 200 tribes and over 50 rebel groups are active in the region. (ANI)
