Butterfly species numbering 183 documented
Itanager, Jul 24: A vibrant butterfly species numbering 183 were found and documented from Namdhapa National Park in Arunachal Pradesh during the 5-day 13th Butterfly India Meet, which ended on Friday, Jul 23.
Ariff Siddiqui, an organiser, said that more species are still yet to find from the park.
Participants from parts of the country identified numerous moths apart from some glittering beetles like 'Golden Tortoise'.
Dr Alfred, Former Director of the Zoological Survey of India also said, "This is an encouraging indicator for existence of many other species of the butterflies in the core area in Namdhapa and in new forests in the area."
Students from five schools in and around Miao town participated in an awareness programme entitled 'Breakfast with Butterflies'.
