Singapore police starts probe on Hindu temple
Singapore, Jul 23: Singapore police started investigation on a Hindu temple in Singapore after finding financial irregularities and serious lapses in the governance.
The probe has found evidence of suspected forgery of payment vouchers and misappropriation of the Sri Siva Krishna Temple's funds between Jan 2007 and Jul 2008.
Commissioner of Charities in Singapore reported that a large sum of 1 million Singapore Dollars was paid in cash to vendors, whom said they had not received it.
"The temple was effectively in the sole control of the then President Arumugam Sivalingam. He had sole custody of the donation monies and gold received by the temple and he maintained the accounting records, approved contracts, purchases and paid out cash and cheques on behalf of the temple," said the Commissioner of Charities.
