Kathua (Jammu and Kashmir), July 23 (ANI): The Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel rescued 27 marooned villagers from Parol Nullah near Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua Distrcit on Thursday evening.
Reacting to the request made by the Jammu administration, an IAF Mi-17 from Jammu airbase was launched to evacuate the villagers, who were marooned owing to a flash flood that occurred yesterday.
The evacuated included 11 women, a 62-year old man and a two-year-old infant among others.
Earlier on July 7, IAF Mi-17 operating from Jammu also evacuated eight tourists and three civil defence personnel from a small island on Tawi river, following the spate of floods that occurred in the region. (ANI)
