Trading closes on flat note

Mumbai, Jul 23: At 4.15 hrs, BSE Sensex closed at 18130.98 up 17.83 points and NSE Nifty at 5449.10 up 7.15 points.

The top gainers were Idea Cellular up 4.81 percent, Bharati Airtel up 3.87 precent, Axis Bank up 2.44 percent and BHEL up 1.54 percent.

The top losers were Reliance Capital down 2.47 percent, GAIL down 2.02 percent, Ranbaxy Labs down 1.98 percent and Unitech down 1.92 percent.

Trading rises to green

Sensex again resumed profit trading ahead of European banks stress test results.

At 2.15 hrs, BSE Sensex was 18171.63 up 57.24 points and NSE Nifty was 5457.75 up 15.80 points.

The active in trading were ICICI Bank, SBI and Reliance.

The top gainers were Idea Cellular up 3.51 percent, Axis Bank up 2.26 percent, Cairn India up 2.57 perecent, Bharati Airtel up 2.37 percent.

The top losers were GAIL down 2.18 percent, HDFC Bank down 1.21 percent, ONGC down 1.15 percent, Suzlon Energy down 0.83 percent.

Nifty trades in red, metal, cement plungs

Market started consolidation which erased the early gains in trading. Metal, cement, healthcare, realty and PSU oil & gas companies' shares faced selling.

At 12.35 hrs, BSE Sensex was 18109.12 down 4.03 points and NSE Nifty was 5438.10 down 3.85 points.

The top gainers were Idea Cellular up 2.52 percent, Axis Bank up 1.56 percent, Cairn India up 1.48 precent, BHEL up 1.31 percent.

Nifty started trading in green on positive global cues.
