Atmosphere too 'bitter' for lunch: BJP
New Delhi, Jul 23: Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) has said that their decision to skip the customary lunch hosted by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was in protest of the alleged misuse of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) by the government.
"The atmosphere is too bitter for us to lunch with the PM," said BJP leader Sushma Swaraj at a press conference in Delhi.
The BJP leaders on Friday, Jul 23 rejected Dr Singh's invitation for lunch ahead of the Monsoon Session of the Parliament, which is set to kick start on Monday, Jul 26.
Swaraj alleged that the Congress-led UPA government was misusing CBI to corner the its leaders. This comes in the wake of the summons issued by the CBI to Gujarat Home Minister Amit Shah in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter.
