CPI (M) pointing out Trinamool-Naxal relations based on Maoists' statements: Yechury

New Delhi, July 22 (ANI): CPI (M) on Thursday said that the party's contention that the Trinamool congress has links with Maoists is based on the statements made by Maoist leaders.

"We are making these connections between Trinamool Congress and Maoists from the statement issued by Maoist leaders. And these statements have come out when officials of home ministry and the agencies have interrogated them. It is on the basis of those statements that whatever we said and those are one, which we are saying should be investigated," said Sitaram Yechury at the conclusion of a two- day central committee meet of Communist Party of India (Marxist) here today.

"We are not saying anything, the Maoist leaders are saying it that this is what are their links and they have infact on some occasions have given also the type of arms, the amount of arms they have received. And they have told their link ups with Trinomool congress," Yechury added.

Mohammad Salim, another party member said people must know how the supporters of the Maoists are trying to instigate communalism.

"We believe that we should support our nation. The common people of the country have right to know that how these people (Trinamool congress) are trying to instigate communalism and communalist elements. They want to harm basic rights of commoners to live in peace," said Salim, Communist Party Of India (Marxist) leader.

The CPI (M) Central Committee meeting was organized to discuss its approach towards Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party and fine-tune the strategy to be adopted by it in the upcoming Assembly polls in West Bengal and Kerala. (ANI)
