Samir Khan, US Citizen behind al Qaeda magazine
Washinton, Jul 20: US officials claimed that a Saudi-born American citizen, Samir Khan may be behind al Qaeda's new online English magazine.
Khan who left US in 2009 now lives in Yemen. He is responsible for several of the online Islamist blogs, reported Fox News quoting unnamed US officials.
Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) posted the online magazine 'Inspire'. Anwar al Awlaki, the American born cleric who is involved with the Fort Hood massacre and New York Times Square failed attempt in United States, is one among the first guest writers of the website.
Inspire publishes articles with titles such as 'How to make a Bomb in the kitchen of your mom'.
Several years ago, Khan began publishing several English translations of al Qaeda propaganda and videos provided by other militant groups. He had earlier started another blog called 'Inshallahshaheed' in 2004. Intelligence officials became aware of Khan since he started his 'coverage'.
As the content of Inspire is almost similar in tone to the works Khan had published in his previous blogs and other Islamist sites, officials suspect Khan to be involved with al Qaeda's English website too.
