Markets end in red; BPCL, IDFC down
Mumbai, Jul 20: BSE Sensex closed at 17878.14 down 50.28 points and NSE Nifty shut shop at 5368.00 down 18.45 points.
The benchmark Nifty closed marginally lower due to fall in European markets.
Financial and auto companies' shares along with Reliance Industries, Infosys, Reliance Communications, HUL and Cipla witnessed selling pressure.
Madras Cements, Himadri Chemical, HCC and SKF India were up 3.6-4 percent and where as Shree Global, Indian Metals, MindTree, BOC India and Rajesh Exports lost 4.5-6 percent.
Kernex Micro, ZF Steering Gea, Jagatjit Inds and Ferro Alloys gained 9-15 percent.
BF Utilities, Tata Steel, Everonn Education, Sesa Goa, IFCI, Unitech and Axis Bank were top gainers.
BPCL, HCL Tech, IDFC were top losers.

Sensex flat; Hindalco, Axis Bank up
At 2:15 pm, BSE Sensex was 17963.34 up 34.92 points and Nifty was 5392.75 up 6.30 points.
Unitech, Sterlite Industries, DLF, Hindalco and Axis Bank witnessed buying and where as IDFC, HUL, BPCL, HCL Tech and HDFC shares continued negative.
Reliance was trading up 0.48 percent, Infosys was trading up 0.1 percent, ITC was trading up 0.6 percent, where as HPCL and Hindustan Lever were trading down.
Top gainers on the BSE Midcap were Bayer Cropscience, Motherson Sumi, Madras Cements, BF Utilities and Manappuram up by 4-9 percent.
Top losers on the BSE Midcap were MindTree, BOC India, Triveni Engineering, Whirlpool and Godfrey Phillip were down 2.7-5 percent.

Sensex up 71.15 points; Unitech, DLF, Hindalco up
At 11:30 am, NSE Nifty was 5405.50 up 19.05 points and BSE sensex was 17999.57 up 71.15 points.
The shares of BF Utilities, Everonn Education, Sesa Goa and Bayer Cropscience companies gained.
Reliance Industries gained 0.5 percent, Hindalco gained 1.7 percent, Tata Steel gained 1.2 percent, BHEL gained 0.4 percent
The most active shares were that of Unitech, DLF, Hindalco.
HUL, ICICI Bank, SBI, Cipla, Jindal Steel, Reliance Communications and Tata Power companies underwent selling pressure.
The other losers in trade include Hero Honda, MindTree, Whirlpool, BOC India, Triveni Engg and GE Shipping.

Markets open on a positive note
Indian benchmarks opened the day on a positive note. Nifty was above 5400 and Sensex was above 18000 level.
Ambuja Cements, DLF, Unitech, Reliance Industries, HDFC, Cairn, Tata Steel, were witnessing buying interest.
However, ABB, HUL and ONGC were under pressure.
At 9:01 am, NSE Nifty was trading at 5411, up 25 points and BSE Sensex was at 18024, up 96 points.
Among the early gainers were Sesa Goa, Tata Tea, HDFC, Cairn, Tata Steel, Pipavav Shipyard.
MindTree tumbled 5.5 percent.
