BJP urges resignation of Orissa CM, Naveen Patnaik
Bhubaneswar, Jul 20: BJP on Tuesday, Jul 20 urged Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to resign. Orissa High Court had mentioned that the state government had adopted a mineral policy to suit favoured parties. So the party claimed that Patnaik had lost all rights to remain in office in the background of the High Court statement.
Court also had said that he had lost the rights to continue in the office. It makes clear the allegation of the party and others that BJP government expressed unjustified favour to certain companies, said Bijoy Mohapatra, the senior BJP leader. He said that the 'Mineral Policy' of the state was a total mess.
BJP legislature party leader KV Singhdeo said that Patnaik had always been stating that the law would take its own course. He urged Patnaik to step down showing due respect to the constitutional body.
Mohapatra said that the state government, not following any uniform and consistent policy had been taking different stands for different parties at different points of time.
Orissa High Court had set aside the state government's recommendation for Prospecting License for the Kandahar iron ore reserve on Jul 14, in a majore setback to the proposed Rs 51,000 crore Posco steel project in Paradip.
