Bengal train accident death toll reaches 66
Sainthia, Jul 20: The death toll of Uttarbanga Express accident in West Bengal is increasing day by day.
The toll in the train collision at Sainthia in Birbhum district rose to 66 on Tuesday, Jul 20.
Eastern Railway officials said that thirty-six injured persons had been referred to the Burdwan Medical College Hospital from the Suri Sadar Hospital in Birbhum on Monday, Jul 19.
They also informed that 28 bodies that were yet to be identified, had been sent to Burdwan hospital for preservation, as that particular facility was absent in the Suri Sadar Hospital.
As most of the dead hailed from remote areas in Bihar, identification of the bodies was taking time.
The Uttarbanga Express at Sainthia station collided from behind the Ranchi-bound Vananchal Express on Monday, Jul 19.
