7 hours since WB mishap, Didi's arrival awaited
Sainthia, Jul 19: Over seven hours have passed since the massive train accident in West Bengal claimed over 49 lives and the arrival of Union Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee is still awaited.
"It is a very unfortunate incident," the minister said in a statement earlier.
"Human lives are very important," she added.
Announcements on the compensation for the kin of those killed in the incident and for the injured are also yet to come.
In the wee hours of Monday, Jul 19 two passenger trains collided near the Sainthia station in Birbhum district.
New Coochbehar to Sealdah Uttarbanga Express rammed into Bhagalpur to Ranchi Vananchal Express at around 2 am killing at least 49 and injuring over 150.
As per the latest inputs, the rescue operations at the accident site have ended.
