Kolkata: Class monitor beats 12-year-old to death
Kolkata, Jul 17: Amid the outrage over corporal punishment, different kind of violence has been reported from Kolkata's Sarvodaya Hindi High School, where a class five student was beaten to death by his class monitor.
12-year-old Rupesh Poddar, who was brutally thrashed by his class monitor about a fortnight ago, developed a black eye and sores in the kidney region.
When he was taken to the hospital, the doctors there said that the boy's kidneys were damaged in the assault launched by the 15-year-old class monitor who also happens to be Rupresh's neighbour in Ultadanga, a newspaper reported.
After suffering for over ten days, Rupesh on Thursday, Jul 15 night.
On the complaint filed by the victim's father, the minor assailant now faces murder charges.
Poddar family claims Rupen was complaining of a stomach ache and died of internal bleeding, after he was beaten up in class on Jul 2, a TV news channel reported on Saturday, Jul 17.
