Bangalore gets a glimpse of Namma Metro

Bangalore, Jul 17: The silicon city got a glimpse of its upcoming intra-city travel lifeline on Friday, Jul 16 when the the mock-up of the Namma Metro coach was unveiled on Friday, Jul 16 at MG Road.

A formal inauguration was carried out by the Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, after which the mock up was open for public viewing.

The inauguration attracted huge crowds to MG Road and similar scenes are expected to be seen for another couple of days as the city dwellers would want to catch a glimpse of their Namma Metro as it is still a long way to go before the first train comes along in Dec 2010.

The mock-up coach is stationed on a concrete platform near Anil Kumble Circle. Bangaloreans interested in seeing the metro rail can do so between 10 am to 8 pm on any day.

"We have completed the construction of all weather roof for the model train and also barricades around the structure. Landscaping around the train has also been done to give the look of a park. The public can view the train, get a feel and write their feedback," a Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) official had said earlier.
