Rape victim killed by husband after marriage

Lucknow, Jul 16: A Muzaffarnagar resident allegedly murdered his minor rape-victim-turned wife within a week of their marriage. The girl was forcefully married off to him as she was sexually exploited by a local panchayat member for over eight months.

More than this, the in-laws of the girl performed her last rites, without informing her parents or relatives in Uttar Pradesh.

Girl's brother Devendra, a resident of Edalpur village in Meerut, registered a complaint with the Muzaffarnagar police and the incident came to light on Wednesday, Jul 14 following the investigation.

Vijay Pal, came to know that his fifteen-year-old daughter Sangeet was being sexually exploited by a man, during the first week of Jun, 2010. She was exploited by Lalit, a resident of Kasampur Tulherdi village in Muzaffarnagar. Lalit's sister was married to Sangeet's village and he thus came in contact with the girl. The two started meeting each other frequently and their affair was revealed after she got pregnant.
