Guwahati, Jul 16: After a bomb explosion at Fancy Bazar, a high alert has been imposed in Guwahati.
Additional security has been positioned in the various part of Guwahati and the security forces are searching for the other bombs.
After the explosion, three Manipuri extremists were arrested from Chandmari area. Rs 1 lakh in cash, laptop, several CDs and documents were also seized from the militants.
Identified as captain of the Peoples Liberation Army (PLA) Benjam and two cadres were arrested by a joint team of CRPF.
During interrogation, the insurgents revealed that their organisation, along with the anti-talk Daimary faction of NDFB, had brought 4 bombs of which one planted at Fancy Bazar exploded.
According to police, at about 8.50 pm a patrol party noticed an unclaimed jute bag lying on the pavement with a package inside. They immediately ordered people in the market to leave and called the bomb disposal squad.
However, the bomb exploded before the bomb disposal squad arrived.
More security is deployed in the various area of Guwahati. All police stations have been put on alert.
