US representative for Afgan-Pak to visit India
Washington, Jul 15: Richard Holbrooke, special US representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, will visit India on his current trip to the region.
US State Department reported that Holbrooke will travel to India and the United Kingdom where he will meet with counterparts and government officials.
During his journey he will also visit Afghanistan, Pakistan, United Kingdom and Germany. Dates of his visit to India was not announced.
On Tuesday, Jul 13 Holbrooke welcomed the resumption of talks between India and Pakistan. He also told that New Delhi has an important role to play in Afghanistan.
"Anything that reduces tensions and increases confidence and understanding between Pakistan and India is something we would encourage and support," said Holbrooke.
