Senior Balochistan National Party leader killed in Quetta
Islamabad, July 14 (ANI): A senior leader of the Balochistan National Party (BNP) Habib Jalib was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Quetta on Wednesday morning.
According to reports, a couple of unknown gunmen on a motorcycle fired at Jalib, who was BNP's secretary general, outside his residence situated in Musa Colony of the provincial capital.
Jalib was rushed to a nearby hospital, but succumbed to his injuries, Xinhua reports.
No group had claimed responsibility for the attack on the political leader till last reports were filed.
Police officials are however suspecting Jalib's murder to be a target killing.
Dozens of BNP activists and Jalib's relatives rushed to the hospital as the news of him being killed spread like wild fire in the capital, which has witnessed a spate of target killings in the past few days.
Authorities fear that Jalib's assassination could spark massive unrest in the insurgency hit province. (ANI)
