Obama warns Africa over terror outfits

Washington, Jul 14: US President Barack Obama warned Africa to be cautious about the terror outfits Al-Shabab and al Qaeda as it could be a place where life was cheap and innocents could be killed for little political cost.

Obama, in an interview with South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), pointed out that the terrorists see it as a potential place where ideological battles to kill innocents can be carried out without regard to long-term consequences for their short-term tactical gains.

The terrorists, through some of the statements have conveyed that they do not regard African life as valuable in and of itself, he added.

His conversation was counted the first comment by the president over the bombings in Uganda which claimed the lives of 76 people. "It was so tragic and ironic to see an explosion like this take place when people in Africa were celebrating and watching the World Cup take place in South Africa," he said.
