Most Brits says burqa ban is not anti-Muslim
London, July 14 (ANI): A majority of people in Britain have welcomed the French decision to ban the wearing of the burqa in public, and said it is not an anti-Muslim act.
The Daily Star quoted teaching assistant Diana Phillips, 42, from Harborne, Birmingham, as saying: "It's not the French saying they are anti- Muslim. I'm sure there's genuine security reasons why they are doing it."
Student Sioned Hill, 19, of Leicester said: "My mum lived in Iran when she was younger and had to abide by their customs. Burqas create a barrier and can be intimidating."
Doreen Marchant, 72, of Wolverhampton said: "Even if they didn't abolish the burka, I'd support a vote to have faces uncovered." (ANI)
