Maharashtra-Karnataka border row spills to streets

Belgaum, Jul 13: The Maharashtra-Karnataka border row has now reached the streets with mobs targeting buses and holding demonstrations on the streets of Belgaum.

A Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) was set on fire near Kittur while three other buses were severely damaged by mobs on Monday, Jul 13.

Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti, which is spearheading the crusade for the merger, took the demands to the streets of the disputed region, a newspaper report said.

In the wake of the violence, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) decided to suspend bus services to Karnataka for two days.
