Seoul, Jul 12: North Korea and the US-led UN Command will meet to hold talks over the deadly sinking of Cheonan, the South Korean Warship which is blamed on Pyongyang. The information was provided by UN Command on Monday, Jul 12.
UN Security Council had approved a statement which condemned the sinking three days before, but it did not blamed North Korea irectly.
The international investigation, in May 2010 found that North Korea was behind the attack of the vessel near the tense Korean sea border, which claimed the lives of 46 sailors. Pyongyang which denied the conclusion given by international navigation, also had warned any punishment would trigger war.
UN Command, during Jun 2010, had proposed general-level talks with North Korea to discuss the matter. North Korea first alleged that US was trying to worsen the inter-Korean situations under the name of UN and rejected the proposal.
But they changed the decision and proposed the colonel-level talks at the Korean border village of Panmunjom in order to prepare for the general-level talks.
