Militants attack CRPF picket in Sopore
Srinagar, Jul 12: The CRPF personnel at a picket in Sopore had a close shave when unidentified militants targeted them in a grenade attack on Monday, Jul 12.
The security personnel posted at the entrance of the State Bank of India building in the North Kashmir city were the targets. However, they managed to escape the attack unhurt as the grenade failed to explode, said sources.
The grenade was later defused by a bomb disposal squad.
Assisted by CRPF, the police cordoned off the area and conducted an unproductive search operation, official sources added.
This comes days after the three strikes carried out by suspected Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorists in North Kashmir in the wake of the violence across the state over death of civilians in alleged CRPF firing.
