10 years in jail for rape culprit in Sharjah

Dubai, Jul 12: An Egyptian who was convinced guilty for raping an Indian housewife was awarded 10 years imprisonment by a Sharjah court, reports a leading news channel.

The accused acted as a municipality employee and entered the house of the victim in Sharjah. He then beat up and raped her at the residence.

The culprit was arrested a couple of days later after he attempted a similar crime. He denied the crime at first but was convicted on the basis of scientific evidences against him.

The Sharjah Sharia Court of First Instance declared the virdict to the 25-year old accused. He is now being reviewed by the Appeals Court.
