Melbourne, July 9 (ANI): Singer Sheryl Crow's has revealed that her break up with Lance Armstrong encouraged her to adopt.

The 48-year-singer and cyclist Lance broke up in 2006 after three years together.

Crow adopted son Wyatt in 2007.

Sheryl revealed that the separation, along with her treatment for breast cancer led her to re-evaluate her life.

"I'd just been through a pretty painful break-up where there were kids involved, and I'd also been through breast cancer treatment," the Daily Telegraph quoted Crow as telling Redbook.

"After that, I felt an acute sense of urgency about how I wanted my life to feel. Since I wasn't married, my idea of what the picture was supposed to look like no longer served any great purpose," she added.

The Grammy Award-winning artist declared she had adopted a second son, Levi, in June 2010, and she admitted she had wanted Wyatt, now three, to have a sibling for some time.

"It's been in the works for a while. I was hoping to adopt a child when Wyatt was two; a lot of the adoptions fell through," she said.

"But things always work out perfectly. They just do. Generally, when you let go of your vision of how something is supposed to be, the universe hands you exactly what you need," she added. (ANI)
