8-year-old boy, the second victim to PM's security
Kanpur, Jul 9: For the second time, the security provided for Prime Minister has ended up with a loss of life as the kin of a deceased 8-year-old boy has blamed the security arrangements made for Dr Manmohan Singh for the death.
Aman Khan, who sustained grievous head injury in an accident at home, died on his way to the hospital on Jul 3.
The bereaved mother of the child has now raised a cry saying that it was the security measures taken for PM's visit to IIT that led a thirty minute delay in the journey to the hospital leading to the child's death.
Aman's mother has writen a letter to UPA chairperson, Sonia Gandhi claiming that the diversion they were forced to take turned the five minute drive to hospital into a half hour journey.
The woman is now seeking nothing from the government but the surety that an incident like this does not repeat.
However, the distressing fact is that the death of the child is very much the repeat of the Nov 2009 incident in which a kidney patient died as he could not receive medical attention in time as the hospital that the family took the patient to was being visited by the PM.
Dr Singh, who had immediately responded to the matter, wrote a letter to the family of the patient promising that such an incident will not re-occur.
