China: UFO on radar halts flights, baffles locals

Beijing, Jul 9: Passengers were stopped from boarding planes and all flights were halted at a Chinese airport on Wednesday, Jul 7 night after an apparent sighting of an UFO.

Air traffic controllers at Xiaoshan airport in Hangzhou City, located in the east of China, reportedly spotted an incoming UFO on their radar systems forcing the shut down of the air operations.

According to the Shanghai Daily, the authorities saw a mysterious glowing object on monitoring instruments.

Adding strength to this sighting of the UFO by the airport authorities is the fact that several locals as well reported to have seen a comet-like fireball in the sky.

Xinhua news agency quoted a local bus driver, who saw a strange glowing object in the sky late Wednesday, Jul 7 afternoon, as saying, "The thing suddenly ran westwards fast, like it was escaping from something."

While airport authorities have launched an investigation over the incident, which led to delay in several flights, the meteorological experts pooh-poohed the matter saying that the 'UFO sighting' was nothing but sunlight reflecting off aircraft.

However, for the UFO enthusiasts and believers of life on Mars and other planets and galaxies the sighting is a whole new chapter.
