Suicide bomber attack kills 33 in Baghdad

Baghdad, Jul 8: Thirty three people were killed in a suicide bomber attack in Adhamiyah district in Baghdad. The assault happened in Kadhimiyah, mausoleum of imam Musa Kadhim of Shiite Islam.

Among the died, 28 were Shiite pilgrims. More than 63 people were injured in the blast. Many of the victims were passing through Adhamiyah en route to the imam's mausoleum.

Earlier on Wednesday, Jul 7 thousands of Shiite worshippers streamed into the Iraqi capital for pilgrimage and traffic was banned on several bridges spanning the Tigris River. The mausoleum has previously been targeted by bombers.
