Protesters block NH-1 in flood-hit Haryana
Chandigarh, Jul 8: The National Highway-1 (New Delhi- Ambala- Chandigarh) was blocked by scores of protesters who have not been getting water and power supply in the flood-hit Shahbad town of Haryana.
Though the civil authorities and the police tried to persuade the protesters to lift the blockade, the incident created mess on the busy NH-1 with a heavy traffic jam.
Kurukshetra and Ambala districts in Haryana have been flooded for the last couple of days due to heavy rains followed by overrunning of rivers Ghaggars and Tangri and the canal Narvana.
The flooding in Ambala junction also had disrupted the rail traffic and several trains had been diverted via Saharanpur on Wednesday, Jul 7.
