Keep sons indoor: PC to Kashmir parents
Srinagar, Jul 8: The state government on Thursday, Jul 8 urged the Kashmir parents to detain their teenage sons indoors in the wake of deaths of several young men in violent protests over last couple of weeks.
Home Minister P Chidambaram requested the youths of Kashmir not to come on to the streets and start stone pelting. He added that the restrictions on all public movement would remain in force for some days.
"Children, especially young boys, should remain indoors. I think there is a responsibility of parents to ensure that," Chidambaram said.
Several thousands of Indian soldiers, paramilitary troops and police were on patrol in Kashmir enforcing the curfew in Muslim-majority towns. The curfew was re-imposed in Srinagar on Tuesday following the death of three protesters in firing by the security forces.
The riots have claimed the lives of at least 15 people as security forces opened fire to break up angry demonstrations held across Kashmir valley.
