Rail track blast in Assam

Guwahati, Jul 8: NDFP militants, the banned group in Assam, blasted railway track in Assam's Kokrajhar district on Thursday, Jul 8.

At least seven persons, including the train driver, were injured when five bogies and engine of the Kolkata-bound Garibrath Express derailed at a spot between Gosaigaon and Chowtara in lower Assam in the early morning on Jul 8.

A railway spokesperson said, the injured had been rushed to a hospital.

Passengers had been sent by an another train, while recovery vans from New Bongaigaon (Assam) and Alipurduar (West Bengal) had been sent to the spot.

The General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railways (Guwahati), along with senior officials, had rushed to the spot.

Divisional General Manager (Alipurduar) had reached at the spot with a medical team.
