Sino-Pak rail link matter of concern: India

By Devaki

New Delhi, Jul 7: India revealed its concern over China's plans to have a rail link with Pakistan through the Karakoram ranges and added that it was preparing to counter such a move.

MM Pallam Raju, Minister of State for Defence told the media that India will take counter measures as the Chinese rail link to Pakistan is really a matter of concern for India. He said this when asked about China's plans to build rail link to Pakistan and reach the Arabian Sea via Gilgit-Baltistan region in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK).

China and Pakistan had made it clear that they were working 'closely together' and 'cooperating closely' on defence and strategic issues.

China has already built the rail link along Tibetan plateau, but now it plans to have the rail link to Pakistan and reach the Arabian sea. Media had reported that the Memorandum of Understanding for the rail link will be signed between Pakistan and China soon.
