Goa court rejects Pacheco's bail plea
Panaji, Jul 7: The bail plea of Fransisco Mickey Pacheco, the former Goa tourism minister, was rejected by a local court in Goa.
Additional Sessions Judge Pramod Kamat denied the bail to Pacheco in connection with the death of his friend Nadia Torrado. Pacheco had surrendered before the court on Saturday, Jul 3 after his anticipatory bail petition was rejected by the Supreme Court.
The former minister is undergoing treatment for jaundice, hypertension and urinary tract infection presently at the Hospicio hospital in Margao. The court said that the crime branch can take his custody when he is medically fit.
He was detained by police on the charge of abetment to suicide and culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
The victim of the case, Nadia Torrado had allegedly consumed poison on May 15 and was admitted to various hospitals in Goa, Thane and Chennai. She finally died on May 30.
