Anna Chapman's mum says she is 'no Mata Hari'

London, July 7 (ANI): Anna Chapman's mother has said that her daughter is no "Mata Hari" and that she wasn't even top of her class.

Chapman, 28, is one of 11 people accused by the United States of being a Russian spy.

"I don't think Anna is a Mata Hari. She had the normal life of a 28-year-old woman," The Telegraph quoted Irina Kushchenko as saying, referring to the Dutch exotic dancer executed by the French for espionage during World War One.

"As an ex-teacher, I can say she never quite shined among her peers. But she was good, close to the top of her class," she added. (ANI)
