We'll step in if prices become volatile: Deora
New Delhi, Jul 6: Murli Deora, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister said that the government would always step in to protect the consumer interests if the fuel prices in international markets becomes volatile, reports a leading news paper.
Deora reiterated that it was wrong to say the recent deregulation had left people at the mercy of the oil marketing companies. He added that the nationwide bandh on Jul 5 has only caused inconvenience and harrassment to the common man, though it became the 'coming together' of the Left parties and the BJP.
Deora reminded that the deregulation of fuel prices was initiated by the United Front government in 1996-97 and implemented by the Vajpayee's NDA government.
