Communal clash in Ahmedabad
Ahmedabad, Jul 6: State Reserve Police (SRP) jawans fired two rounds in air in Shahpur, Ahmedabad after a clash broke out between members of two communities.
The clash happened in the communally sensitive Shahpur area after a dispute between two groups over some petty issues.
"Two rounds were fired in the air by the SRP jawans when the groups came out on the roads and started pelting stones at each other," said S M Katara, Deputy Commissioner of Police.
"No one was injured in the stone pelting and the situation was under control," he added.
Police had started investigation. SRP jawans have been deployed in various parts of Ahmedabad in wake of the Jagannath rathyatra on Tuesday, Jul 13.
