Benchmarks surrender in red; Rel Power top gainer
Mumbai, Jul 5: At 4:00 hrs, BSE Sensex was 17,441.44 down 19.51 points and NSE Nifty was 5235.90 down 1.20 points.
Benchmarks ended the day in a negative note. Bharat bandh also dragged the markets to a quiet session.
Reliance Power, which gained 3.25 percent outperformed among the shares. SBI could gain 0.33 percent, Infosys went up by o.58 percent and Bharti Airtel went up by 1.04 percent. Idea Cellular profited by 2.33 percent, M&M went up by 1.29 percent and PNB went up by 2.72 percent.
The losers in the trade include Tata Motors, which went down by 0.42 percent, BHEL down by 1.35 percent, Reliance Communications down by 2.80 percent, ONGC down 1.60 percent and Hindalco 1.46 percent.

Sensex volatile; M&M, Tata Motors rise
At 2:20 hrs, BSE Sensex was 17,476.03 up 15.08 points and NSE Nifty was 5242.65 up 5.55 points.
Pharma, banking, IT and auto stocks witnessed buying where as oil & gas underwent selling pressure. Broader indices in BSE were trading in green.
The top gainers in the trade were Reliance Power, PNB, Mahindra and Mahindra, Idea Cellular and GAIL which went up by 1 to 1.5 percent. Reliance Communication, NTPC, Power Grid, Hindalso and BHEL were down by 1 to 1.5 percent.
Hindustan Lever slumped 1.3 percent and cigarette major ITC dropped 0.03 percent.
Around 1760 shares advanced, 1199 declined and 365 remained unchanged.

Nifty in a narrow range; NTPC, ONGC slump
At 12:00 hrs, BSE Sensex was 17,491.19 up 30.24 points and NSE Nifty was 5247.60 up 10.50 points.
Nifty was trading in a narrow range. The stocks of financial, cement, technology (TCS being an exception), select auto and metal companies were in green.
For power and FMCG companies, selling continued. The others going on pressure were ONGC, BHEL, TCS, Reliance Communications, Maruti, Sun Pharma, DLF and Hindalco.
Broader indices which gained 0.5 percent each, overpowered the benchmark indices. Around 795 shares advanced and 442 declined on NSE>
The top gainers Reliance Power was up 2.42 percent, M&M was up by 1.73 percent, Cipla was up by 1.65 percent, PNB up 0.97 percent, Tata Motors up 1.44 percent and Sterlite Industries was up 0.93 percent.
The top losers include Reliance Communications, Power Grid, NTPC, BHEL and HUL.

Nifty volatile; Rel power up
At 9:10 hrs, BSE Sensex was 17,496.69 up 35.74 points and NSE Nifty was 5245.80 up 8.70 points.
Nifty started the day slumping 5 points and Sensex was also in red down 8 points.
The stocks of PNB, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank and Axis Bank traded in negative following rate hike by Reserve Bank of India, but they managed to recover.
Reliance Power which has decided the merger with Reliance Natural Resources, surged 5 percent while RNRL went down by 28 percent after the news of the merger came.
Reliance Capital, DLF, Unitech, Power Grid, NTPC, Maruti and HUL declined in the trade where as Ranbaxy Labs, Sun Pharma, Cipla, Infosys, TCS and SBI gained.
RCF which rose 6 percent was another gainer in the markets. Asian markets were trading mixed.
