SU-30 MKI to be upgraded by IAF
New Delhi, July 4: (ANI) The Indian Air Force is going to upgrade its SU-30 MKI combat aircrafts with the help of Russia.
Reportedly, 50 Sukhoi-30 MKI aircrafts will be upgraded with the help of original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) from Russia. Out of which five would be sent to the Russian facilities while the remaining would undergo upgrading in India.
"The aircrafts have been inducted into the IAF in four phases. The ones to be upgraded are from the first phase and the project is likely to be completed in the next three to four years," sources said.
The aircraft will be upgraded to the latest standards and equipped with the modern capabilities under the modernization programme.
The sources also said that the airframe of these aircrafts would be strengthened to equip them with the 290 km range, air launch version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile. (ANI)
