Jaswant’s book issue a closed chapter: Gadkari
New Delhi, Jun 4: Nitin Gadkari, BJP President said that the issue of Jaswant Singh's book praising Mohammed Ali Jinnah is a 'closed' chapter. Gadkari said that the return of Singh will help to strengthen the party.
When asked about the return of leaders like Jaswant Singh and Ram Jethmalani to BJP, Gadkari said that to add people is a good thing which will strengthen the party.
Gadkari said that Jaswanth Singh is loyal to the party and as a person, he is a good man, apart from his book. Gadkari was talking to a channel for an interview.
Gadkari claimed Ram Jethmalani had apologised for certain remarks made by him against Atal Bihari Vajpayee, before Jethmalani was taken back. BJP as well as Vajpayee's family were satisfied with Jethmalani's explanations, Gadkari added.
He maintained that every leader has the right to have different opinions in a democratic party.
“A big political party is a group of big political leaders. Everyone has some independent and different opinions. It never happens that 100 percent opinions are same. There may be some opinions that Jaswant Singh may have which I may not agree with. But, in the larger interest as far as BJP is concerned, I feel he is loyal to the party, is a very respectable leader, that is why I approached him," he said.
