Man, 34, creates 'face-book' by snapping self-portraits everyday since 1998

Melbourne, July 2 (ANI): Jonathan Keller, a New York-based artist, has snapped a picture of his face everyday for the past 12 years. He has now created an online archive since 1998.

Keller, 34, who plans to photograph himself every day for the rest of his life, said he started the project "out of spite".

"I purchased a digital camera way back in 1998 which was rather expensive and at that time I really didn't have that much money," News.com.au quoted him, as saying.

Keller added: "After some discussion about the appropriateness of the purchase, my girlfriend at the time mockingly asked if I was going to 'use it every day'.

"I stated that I certainly would and resolved to start this project, I wanted to examine the subtle and not-so-subtle visual changes that take place on a daily basis."

He now has a collection of exactly 3391 self-portraits, which - aside from a few weeks he spent in Antarctica - document his daily appearance since 1998.

The photos show Keller as a fresh-faced student through his many transformations and experiments of hairstyles, beards and glasses.

A video he compiled of thousands of the shots has been viewed millions of times on YouTube, making his face one of the best-known on the internet.

According to Keller, it only takes about five seconds to take the daily photos and rarely interrupts his life.

He said: "The closest I've ever come to missing a day is when I am travelling long distances and the time zone changes, which messes with what day it actually is. I've had to leave a couple of parties early to get home to take the day's photo."

Saying his work would only be complete when he dies, Keller added: "As for the future, I seriously hope I go the route of George Clooney or Sean Connery and get better with age. That, and I hope I'm still alive." (ANI)
