Indian computer scientist killed in US

New Jersey, Jun 30: An Indian computer scientist Divyendu Sinha who was brutally attacked by three juveniles, succumbed to his injuries on Monday, Jun 28 in the United States.

Divyendu Sinha, 49, went for a walk with his family in a New Jersey suburb while he was attacked by three 17-year-old assailants on Friday, Jun 25 night. His two sons who were accompanying him were injured but not seriously, in the attack. They informed police that a car came by and the people in the car ambushed Sinha.

Sinha, an IIT Kharagpur alumnus was working as a consultant with Siemens. He was staying near Old Bridge in New Jersey.

The preliminary investigations indicate that the assault was 'not racially motivated' but rather a 'random' attack, said Bruce Kaplan, the local prosecutor. Police added that the final determination on the motive would be determined only after the investigation was complete. Police withheld the names of the assailants because of their age.
