Ex Goa Minister moves SC for anticipatory bail

Panaji, Jun 30: Ex Goa Tourism Minister Fransisco Mickky Pacheco had gone to the Supreme Court asking anticipatory bail in connection with the death of his female friend Nadia Torrado in Chennai.

The High Court held the bail plea for hearing on Thursday, Jun 30.

The HC had earlier rejected Pacheco's anticipatory bail plea on Jun 21.

The court had also rejected the bail plea of his personal secretory Lyndon Monteiro, on technical grounds.

Pacheco and his close aide had been charged of the murder case of 28-year-old Nadia, who died after allegedly consuming poison on May 30 in Chennai.

Police accused Pacheco with culpable homicide while Monteiro had been charged of destroying evidence.

The bench, while rejecting the bail plea, had said that the offense was of serious nature and custodial interrogation was needed in the case.

The court rejected Monteiro's earlier bail plea because his counsel did not bring on the record that he had withdrawn his anticipatory bail plea from the High Court.

He was asked to remain present in person.

Their anticipatory bail plea had been rejected by the Sessions Court too.

Crime branch after interrogating Pacheco on Jun 5, wanted custodial interrogation of the accused as they were yet to recover two mobiles and a laptop belonging to Nadia.
