Srinagar violence: Curfew in Baramulla, Sopore
Srinagar, Jun 29: Army was called in Baramulla and Sopore as the violence is spreading to more places in Srinagar. Curfew continued in Sopore on Tuesday, Jun 29 for the fourth day. Additional contingents and paramilitary forces were deployed in Baramulla and Sopore.
Several parts of Srinagar are under severe restrictions as the bloodshed increased in the fierceful clashes. Three people were killed and 32 policement got injured in the violent riots between protestors and security forces, in various parts of the valley on monday, Jun 29.
Police informed that curfew has been extended to the areas including police stations of Nowhatta, Khanyar, MR Gunj, Safakadal, Rainawari and Noorbagh in old city and Batmaloo in Central Srinagar.
The government employees alleged that they were not being allowed to go to their work places even after showing identity cards.
Hurriyat leaders advocated people for civil obediences. The moderate Hurriyat Conference headed by Mirwaiz Umer Farooq had called people to come on streets to protest the killing of youths by security forces in Sopore and Baramulla.
