Thackerays urged to bury distances

Mumbai, Jun 28: Shiv Sena has urged Raj Thackrey and Uddhav Thackrey to reunite through an open appeal on Sunday, Jun 27.

An editorial published on Sunday, Jun 27 in Saamna, the Shiv Sena mouthpiece, extended the olive branch to Raj Thackeray and called upon the warring Thackeray cousins to remove their differences.

Raj and Uddhav Thackeray were requested to join hands for the greater good of Maharashtra.

Referring to the recent truce between Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and his younger brother Anil Ambani, the party appealed to Raj and Uddhav to bury their differences.

In the past, Raj Thackeray-led had Maharashtra Navanirman Sena damaged party's fortunes in both the Lok Sabha and state assembly elections. Raj Thackeray had left Shiv Sena in 2005 to form MNS.

Political circles have been speculating about how MNS could eat into the Sena"s vote bank during the 2012 civic polls.

A Shiv Sena functionary has been carrying out a campaign to unite the two estranged cousins, since last month. The campaign has been trying to bring together workers of both MNS and Shiv Sena to engage in a dialogue on what attempts could be made to bring the two parties together.
