Husband goes to HC on harassment by in-laws
Varanasi, Jun 26: Allahabad High Court has sought a reply from the Uttar Pradesh government on a petition filed by a man, who has accused his father-in-law, who is a district judge at Varanasi, of harassing him and his family.
Ved Prakash Mishra, the complainant appeared before DIG DK Thakur on Friday, Jun 25.
Mishra claimed that he was forced to leave his home about eight years ago due to the harassment by his father-in-law, Vashisht Narain Shukla. Since 2002 he has reportedly been living in an ashram.
Thakur said that after learning that his family members were taken into police custody on the charges of harassing his wife, Bina, for dowry, he decided to return home.
Bina had filed a case on Jun 13, alleging torture by her in-laws over dowry and claimed that they were also behind the disappearance of her husband.
A two-judge bench comprising Justices Arun Tandon and Rajesh Chandra sought a reply from the government in this regard.
