US backs Russia's WTO entry
Washington, Jun 25: US President Barack Obama declared his full support to Russia's entry into the World Trade Organisation (WTO), adding that it will help to intensify Moscow's integration into the global economy.
Obama said that involvement of Russia in WTO will be helpful for Russia and America as well as the world economy. He was addressing US-Russia Business Summit held at the US Chamber of Commerce in Washington.
Obama, who attended a joint press conference with Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev, said that US reaffirms the strong commitment to Russia's ascension to WTO.
Obama said that Moscow would now allow US to begin exporting its poultry products to Russia again. He expressed his gratitude to Medvedev for resolving the issue, which was much important to American business. It sends an important signal about Russia's seriousness about achieving membership in WTO, Obama said.
Obama requested Medvedev to accelerate their efforts to work together to complete the process in the very near future.
