Sino-Pak anti-terror drill in Jul 2010

Beijing, Jun 25: The army of China and Pakistan will hold a joint anti-terror drill 'Friendship 2010' in Qingtongxia, of the northwest China from Jul 1-11, 2010.

The information was provided by China's Ministry of National Defence on Thursday, Jun 24.

'Friendship 2010' drill will be the third one of its kind between China and Pakistan, said Geng Yansheng, the ministry spokesperson of China. Each side was expected to send special unit of more than hundred members to take part in the exercise, informed Geng.

Geng said that the exercise is expected to enhance the capabilities of the two nations in fighting terrorism together and safeguarding regional peace and stability. Two nations want to promote pragmatic exchanges and cooperation regarding the matter, said Geng.

The first joint anti-terrorism exercise of China and Pakistan, 'Friendship 2004' was held in Xinjiang's Taxkorgan Tajik Autonomous County bordering Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The second one, named 'Friendship 2006' was held in the hills of northern Pakistan's Abbottabad.
