Sexual misconduct allegations at NID Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: The Director of National Institute of Design (NID) received a complaint from a former student that a faculty member made repeated and inappropriate references to sex and genitals in the class.

The former student complianed the Director through an email. College has set up a panel to investigate about the allegation.

The male student who complained was enrolled in the Strategic Design Management program and graduated in Dec, 2009.

He alleged that the professor said that the sexual references and terms were a part of experiments for his PhD. The professor made this student and his classmates to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement which was drafted by the professor himself.

Vijaya Deshmukh, the Registrar said that they will complete their inquiry by Jul, 2010. He also said that it is a complaint by a male student and they have taken statements from female students. "The teacher is a senior and we have never received such complaints in the past," he said.
