Kin arrested for openly justifying honour killing

New Delhi, Jun 24: Three people have been detained in connection with the honour killing of the Delhi couple identified as Monica and Kuldeep and the murder of the man's sister.

Among the detained are two relatives of the victims. The police made the arrests on Thursday, Jun 24 and charged them for making provocative statements.

The arrests were made after uncle and cousin of the prime accused Mandeep justified the killing of the inter-caste couple .

Speaking to the media, paternal uncle of the woman said that they deserved to die as they went against the community norms.

The woman was a Gujjar and the man she married was a Rajput.

The third person detained in connection with the triple murder case is one of the couple's neighbours. The police suspect that the nieghbour provided the murderers with a pistol.

The police are on the look-out for the two main accused in the case, Mandeep and Ankit. A cash reward of Rs 50,000 to anyone who can provide information on the absconding suspects has also been announced.
